Is Paula Abdul’s alleged departure from her long time tenure on American Idol just another publicity stunt, or is this for real?  For the record – anyone who has a job for 8 years and an offer to continue, is absolutely nuts to refuse!  OK, OK, she was only offered a $5 million contract, and sure, that would insult most of us no end, and we may go home and drink ourselves silly trying to figure out how we could possibly live on that trivial pittance, but..hey, it’s a job, right?

As they say, life is stranger than fiction.  So why should writers and producers rack their brains writing plots and casting characters when all that needs to be done is to hire a camera crew to follow a bunch of spoiled society dames around the Big Apple?   And with that realization, The Real Housewives of New Your City debuted to a huge accepting audience.

And, yes, I am included in that never- missed- an- episode- crowd…only, you understand, because I was doing research and it’s part of my job. (Right.)

Of course, the real problem here is that the title of this show doesn’t fly!   Housewives?   Apparently the producers think it’s a wife who lives in a house.   And “real” makes me a little nervous, too.  There is absolutely nothing “real” about this show including the fact that some of these ladies aren’t even married.
