Our friends in Redmond have come up with a fantastic chart to help with the ease in installation of Windows 7.

Custom Install: A custom (clean) installation gives you the option to either completely replace your current operating system or install windows on a specific drive or partition that you select. You can also perform a custom installation if your computer does not have an operating system or if you want to setup a multiboot system on your computer.

The Touch

Seems like the rumor mill is in full swing for the latest and greatest Mac to come down the pike. Rumor has it that it will probably be sometime mid 2010 for the release of the multi-touch laptop from Apple. Taking its controls from the fantastic work done by Jeff Han shown in 2006. You can hear the oohs and has in the crowd for what we now accept as commonplace on the iPod Touch and iPhone.  I don’t know if Apple swiped this from Mr Han but their control is a direct rip off what is shown in the TED talk. I expect that this multi touch will be standard as Apple goes forward with their new tablet.

The other day while I was logging into Amazon I noticed something cool. Its actually on the way; Snow Leopard from Apple. Its the latest version of their very successful OSX  This small incremental upgrade is actually pretty massive in its scope and abilities. Its basically equivalent to Windows Vista to Windows 7, for oh $29. The only catch is you will have had to own OSX 10.5 to get the $29 rate but if you bought a Mac in the past year you have that already, or you probably upgraded to 10.5 because of its über-coolness.

Up until oh.. today. Those elite few the Official Microsoft Windows 7 Beta testers that have toiled and dug up bugs had been given the proverbial binary shaft. Microsoft asked their beta testers of Windows 7 to spend weeks upon weeks trying to break their OS. While not hard it did mean that these people were asked to report errors, spend their personal time all for free? They were told a few weeks back that they were going to have to pay for their own version of Windows 7. Well today Microsoft Blog has released that it is in fact going to give these people a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate; (nice of you Mr Balmer).

My last article about Google Chrome OS has striked some immense interest in the software as a service topic. Many believe that it has too many limitations due to the bandwidth or speed of a users connection. Onlive is a service that enables any computer with a web browser and an internet connection to perform some of the most computer intensive applications known to the tech world. Yes that is right Onlive allows any computer regardless of its speed and specifications to play graphically demanding games such as Crysis!
