I don’t like wars.  But I do understand why the world needs to have them – it’s because we are such a primitive race, even after all these millennia, that we have yet to figure out a way to iron out our differences without the use of devastating weapons and a disgraceful loss of life.

When Caesar and Alexander the Great were fighting wars, they took their problems to the battlefields and away from the innocent populations in an effort to reduce collateral damage.  We no longer have the luxury of limiting our campaigns to huge expanses of empty land.  We fight right in the middle of cities where people go to work and children walk to school.

I actually wanted to use another “F” word here but I didn’t dare…because America isn’t getting fleeced, it’s getting f*d.

I have never been an advocate for Welfare unless someone needs some emergency funds to “get them by”.  I don’t believe anyone should be given a free ride.  No one who has a half a brain and the ability to do any type of job at all – including cleaning gutters and packing groceries – should be supported by the government, aka, you and me.

Anyone who ever studied American history knows that the first official Labor Day celebration was held in New York City on September 5, 1882.  This was the first time that an organized demonstration of support for all of America’s workers (laborers, actually) was held.

Having owned a nanny agency, an employment agency, and having been an employer, I have always been an advocate for the working class – anyone who needs a paycheck.  I have supported whatever cause they were working for, and I have applauded their efforts to make their lives, and those of their fellow Americans, better for their labors.

I am no fan of Michael Vick.  I had never even heard of him until he was arrested for animal abuse.   Not just allowing dogs to fight to their deaths, but torturing them to the point they were so vicious that they needed to be in cages until they were brought into the ring – to kill or die fighting.

I didn’t know he played football until his name was emblazoned all over the papers with people arguing back and forth about his alleged guilt, or worse, it was OK what he did.

Are We Raising a Nation of Brats?

Like many people, I’ve spent hours this weekend doing errands.  What I witnessed was truly amazing, no – truly disgusting.  When it comes to teaching kids how to behave, especially in public, I have to wonder where society dropped the ball.

We’ve all seen bratty kids.  They are usually in the toy aisle or the candy aisle screaming like banshees for something that Mom is refusing to buy.  And we’ve all seen how different moms handle the situation.  Personally, I like the moms who pick their little brats up off the floor and let them know what sort of torments will indeed befall them if they choose to continue.  Depending on mom’s tone of voice and her facial expression, even a toddler in diapers gets the picture.
